Michael Jordan’s cultural importance extends far beyond the basketball court. His iconic Jumpman pose symbolizes the birth of Air Jordan and is synonymous with American culture and the rise of Nike. This 1985 Nike Promo card is one of the first card collectibles to feature the phenom from North Carolina. The iconic pose captured in this image changed basketball, shoe culture, and sports marketing forever.
Shareholders accepted a $203,000 buyout offer for this asset in May 2021, following its IPO for $139,000 in January 2021. As a result, the asset has been retired from Collectable’s platform.


Michael Jordan is widely considered the greatest basketball player in the history of the NBA. Jordan won six NBA titles, eight scoring titles, five regular-season MVPs, six Finals MVPs, three All-Star Game MVPs and one Defensive Player of the Year award. In fact, Jordan was named to the All-Defensive First Team nine times, a record. This 14-time All-Star and former NBA Rookie of the Year (1985) scored 32,292 points and averaged 30.1 points per game in his career. In addition to being the G.O.A.T. on the court, the Jordan brand exploded off of it. Air Jordan brand became synonymous with basketball.


A basket of 50 Michael Jordan Nike Promo Rookie Cards from 1985, all SGC graded. The basket contains 3 SGC “100” Gold Pristine’s, 16 SGC “Gem Mint” 10’s and 31 SGC 9.5’s “Mint Plus”.
● Relevant comps are as follows: A single SGC Gold sold for $48,000 at Heritage Auctions in March 2021. A SGC 9.5 Mint Plus sold on December 23rd at auction for $3,200 setting an all time record for the card. On the same night, an SGC 10 “Gem Mint” sold for $6,988.
●Nike released one of the first Michael Jordan cards period to showcase the original Jordan 1 sneakers. The card is part of a six-card promo set that also features some other Nike athletes at the time, including John McEnroe and Dwight Gooden.
●Many collectors consider this to be the true Michael Jordan Rookie Card since it dates to 1984/85. It is considered one of the first card collectibles to feature Jordan as an NBA player, and is the first Nike Air Jordan endorsed item to come to market.
●According to nicekicks.com, “wearing the “Black Toe” Air Jordan 1 and a black and red Nike Air Jordan Flight Suit with the Chicago skyline as a backdrop, Michael Jordan soared into greatness with this pose.”
● An all-time record for a 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan #57 was recently set in August 2020, when an SGC Gold Pristine “100” sold for $420,000, including the buyers premium. This represented nearly a 400% premium over the PSA 10 price at the time.
● The consignor is retaining $50,600 in equity in the offering.
