A LeBron James Rookie Patch Auto Parallel numbered to 23 and graded BGS 9 sold for a record breaking $5.2 million, the highest price for a basketball card ever, in April 2021. A BGS 9 numbered to 99 just sold for $2,029,500 in August 2021.

THE ATHLETE

LeBron James is frequently discussed as one of the greatest basketball players of all time, and certainly one of America’s most influential and popular athletes of his generation. James has won four NBA championships, four NBA Finals MVP awards, and four NBA’s Most Valuable Player awards while playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat and Los Angeles Lakers. James is the three-time AP Athlete of the Year and two-time Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year. After winning two championships with the Heat, LeBron triumphantly returned to the Cavaliers and brought the city of Cleveland its first major professional sports championship since 1964, and the first-ever championship won by the Cleveland Cavaliers franchise.

Featuring both an autograph and an incredibly rare three-color patch of game-worn jersey, this card is numbered 34/99 and graded 8.5 by BGS with a bold blue 10 autograph by Beckett.
Sub grades include: Centering 9.5, Edges 9, Corners 8, Surface 9.5, Auto 10.
This Rookie Patch Autograph is a POP 26 with 54 cards graded higher out of 98 total submissions.

According to Heritage Auctions, “Just ninety-nine examples of this rookie format, pairing a patch of game worn jersey and a bold blue sharpie signature, were inserted at random within those high-dollar boxes, and they are today considered the most desirable of all LeBron rookies, bar none.”
